The mission of CREST is to create new technologies that enable software tools to work effectively at the exascale level and beyond. CREST focuses particularly on creation of technologies to enable effective use of exascale computational systems in challenging application areas (particularly applications rooted in dynamic graphs) while focusing on system efficiency, power, and cost. CREST aims to create the cyberinfrastructure that will enable the US to regain global leadership in high performance computing and successfully address some computing challenges related to solving some of the most challenging problems facing humanity.
At Indiana University, CREST aims to aid IU in the following ways:
- Continue and enhance the reputations of IU overall and the IU School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering (SICE) as leaders in High Performance Computing
- Provide tools that enable and support new research possibilities for our colleagues in SICE
- Enable the creation of new applications based on use of CREST-created technologies that allow IU researchers to solve existing challenges more quickly than possible today enable the IU community to address and solve challenges that are today beyond the capabilities of current HPC technology implementations.
CREST is part of the School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering (SICE) and is affiliated with the IU Pervasive Technology Institute.
